Racket Used

If I buy a prestrung racket that is 3 years old but was never used, will the strings still be good?

In other words, do strings go bad from time or from wear and tear?

yes they get old. but if you're not a serious tennis player i don't think it's a big deal. if you want, just get the racket and have it strung again for an extra $20 or so in a shop.
